I’m honored to offer on consignment from the owner of 24 years, this highly optioned, German Delivery, 1996 911 993 Turbo Coupe with rare X50 Power Kit and Porsche Exclusive Carbon Fiber Interior Accents.

The 993 Turbo was the last of the air-cooled era and is widely regarded as one of Porsches most desirable 911 variants, although it still has a classic timeless style, performance is still very respectable today. With an air-cooled twin turbo engine producing 408 BHP that puts the power down via a 6-speed gearbox, and an electronic 4wd system in standard form, it offers performance to embarrass a lot of modern cars today. With a top speed of 180mph and a 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds, it certainly does not hang around! A very desirable and rare upgrade in period from the factory which this car has, was to tick the expensive (14,000 DM) option box “X50” which was only offered in the ROW (rest of the world) markets. This raised the power to 430BHP (the same as the Turbo S) and enhanced performance even further.

Vehicle History:

WP0ZZZ99ZTS371344 was completed at Porsche’s Stuttgart Zuffenhausen factory on 11/02/1995 and was delivered to the first owner who opted for factory delivery on 11/13/1995 for the sum of 245,000 Deutsche Marks. In the summer of 1999, the car was traded in on a new 2000 996 GT3 at Porsche Zentrum Siegen. Porsche Siegen put the vehicle through the manufacturers Certified Pre-Owned Program and offered it for sale in their showroom in the fall of 1999. At that point the car had approximately 80,000 Kilometers (49,600 miles) recorded.

The current owner visited Porsche Siegen’s showroom during a trip to Germany and was immediately drawn to the Guards Red 993, at the time he was living in Barcelona, Spain. He decided to buy the car late in 1999 and returned to Spain with it. Between 1999 and 2001 he enjoyed the car in Spain and Germany adding approximately 10,000 miles. In late 2001 in preparation for relocating home to Ohio permanently and not wanting to sell the car or leave it behind it was shipped from Barcelona, via Breman and on to Baltimore. It has remained as part of his Porsche collection ever since, having covered just over 20k miles in the last 25 years it now sits at 70,463 miles.

Importation to the USA:

On arrival at Baltimore in 2002, the vehicle was required to complete DOT & EPA certification to be officially imported into the USA, then titled and registered in Ohio for road use. This was completed by J.K Technologies, Baltimore, MD one of the few companies nationally that was licensed to complete this. The process took 6 months, cost $8k to complete and is fully documented.

Prior to shipping from Spain, in consultation with J.K Technolgies and at their request as part of the certification process; the vehicle was fitted with new Factory Catalytic Converters and Spark Plugs at Porsche Concessionari, Barcelona at a cost of $3k.

Maintenance History:

To say the vehicle has been well documented and maintained over the years would be an understatement! The current owner has kept an extensive paper record of everything that’s related to the car’s history and maintenance going back to when he purchased it in late 1999. There are invoices and stamps in the maintenance book from Porsche Dealers in Germany and Spain, including the 100k kilometer service completed at Werks One (The Porsche Factory) in 2000. Also, extensive records from a local marquee specialist here in Ohio dating back to 2002.

Recent Refurbishment/Maintenance:

Due to its desirability and unique history, in preparation for sale it was decided to undertake a complete high quality respray of the car, since some areas of the paint were showing their age and matching color with a single stage finish can be problematic. Also, at the same time to address any and all maintenance and wear issues. The aim was to bring the condition of the car to, as good as it could possibly be for the new owner. Chris Moore the principal of Autobahn Extremist of Brooklyn Heights, OH was selected to complete the process because of his more than 40 years’ experience working on and restoring Air-Cooled Porsches to a very high standard. The original Factory Single Stage Guards Red Glasurit Paint was selected to insure an authentic result. The final bill to complete the work was in excess of $50k and is available on request to serious buyers.

In Addition:

As previously mentioned, the vehicle has extensive paper records dating back to 1999. These will be passed on to the new owner.

Also as delivered; 2 Keys, Full European Safety Equipment (Safety/Warning Triangle & Unopened First-Aid Kit), Jack, Tool Roll, Compressor, Unused Spare Wheel and a full set of Owners Manuals in Original German & English, Porsche Factory Build Sheet & PCNA (Porsche Cars North America) Certificate of Authenticity.

My Impressions:

I had the opportunity to drive the car last week for about 30 minutes on a beautiful fall afternoon. It performed flawlessly and provided the ultimate in Porsche Air Cooled Performance just as I remembered from my last drive of a 993 TT many years ago.

The car presents in fabulous condition, needing nothing except its next caretaker. The new paintwork gleams in the sun and the interior is in remarkably fresh condition considering its 28 years old. Opportunities to acquire special Porsche like this don’t come along too often and this car would stand out in any collection.
