The 911/997.2 marks the end of the truly analog 911. The 3.8-liter 385hp DFI Flat 6 Engine offers exciting performance, the PDK Gearbox shifts seamlessly and the car handles like a dream with the Sport Chassis there when desired. Opportunities to purchase Time Warp Porsche’s like this don’t come along too often and this Targa with only 379 examples delivered worldwide in 2011 has already attained collector status in my opinion. If you’ve been dreaming about owning something like this for the last 10 years now’s your chance!

When the 987.2 Boxster/Cayman was introduced for the 2009 model year it represented a major mechanical and ascetic redesign for the platform. The introduction of the new 9A1 Engine eliminated all of the potential issues associated with the previous engine design. The all new 7-Speed PDK (Porsche Double Clutch) Gearbox was and is considered a design revelation. The vehicle offers focused performance from the 2.9-liter 255 HP engine, the PDK shifts seamlessly, and the mid-engine configuration offers go-kart like handling. This beauty won’t last long! The 993 introduced in mid 1994 for the 1995 model year in North America represents the final chapter of the legendary Air-Cooled 911 that first saw the road in 1963. The 993 contains 30 years of development to the platform adding many modern features. The 3.6 liter flat six air cooled engine rated at 285 HP with Varioram Induction mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox provides spirted performance. The multilink, coil-over rear suspension assists in making the handling of this rear engined sport car much more predictable than earlier incarnations.
I’ve owned and enjoyed several 993’s over the years going back to when they were new. It’s been a few years since I’ve had the pleasure of driving one so when this beauty came into inventory, I didn’t hesitate to take it for an extended test drive. It was like meeting an old friend that I hadn’t seen for a while, everything fell into place when I got behind the wheel and the memories of drives long past came flooding back. What a joy this time capsule 911 is! It provides much of the original 1960’s 911 experience with the added modern conveniences of, power steering/clutch/brakes and air conditioning that actually works. With the top down, sunny day on a nice country back road, no modern car can replicate this experience! There is a reason that these have now reached collector status.

I’m excited to offer on consignment this desirable 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera G50 Targa, which represents the last of its generation. Finished in rare Velvet Red Metallic, contrasted by a Cashmere/Black-Partial Leather Interior. The vehicle has had four Florida owners in the last 33 years who added 106k miles. The current owner who has several Porsche’s and is an active PCA (Porsche Club of America) member purchased the car in 2003 at 88k miles for winter pleasure use and it has been stored inside at his residence in Gainesville ever since. At delivery the new owner will receive, three keys, owner’s manual set/folder, maintenance invoices and most of the accessories that were included with the car when new.
Maintenance:
The vehicle has some documented maintenance and stamps in the maintenance booklet going back to 1994.
Highlights include:
2003, at 91k miles, a new 930 Turbo Clutch was installed by Redline Autowerks, Gainesville Florida.
2018, Front Seats restored using new covers from Auto’s International Escondido, CA.
www.porschetopsandinteriors.net
2022, Chris Moore of Autobahn Extremist, Brookline Heights, OH went through the car at a cost of $4,500 to ensure that it was in good order prior to being sold.
http://www.autobahnextremist.com/
Condition:
The car presents very well, I would describe it as mostly original in 3 condition (nice driver) based on the Hagerty Scale, the mileage of 106k and its 33 years of age. The paint with the exception of the hood and bumpers is original with no signs of accident damage, there are a few minor imperfections, consummate with the age and mileage of the vehicle. The Targa top is original/undamaged and in decent condition for 33 years old. The interior is very nice and benefits greatly from the restored front seats, the dashboard is in good condition with only a small crack next to the main light switch. The car starts without effort and drives solidly.

Porsche comes up with some great limited-edition models to commemorate notable racing cars and victories in the company’s history. This RS60 Spyder #187 of 1960 produced worldwide in 2008 (800 came to North America) to celebrate the iconic giant slaying factory race car from 1960 that took overall victory at the 12 hours of Sebring against much more powerful competition from Ferrari. Now you have the chance to visit Porsche’s glorious racing past, time to put the top down and imagine you’re racing down the back straight at Sebring Florida as the sun goes down on a Saturday evening in March 1960 ready to take the checkered flag in victory!
I rate these cars very highly! They are so much more than the sum of their parts and send the fun meter off the scale!
